about

a step back is about the moments where we block out all the noise, get super focused and honest about what it’s going to take to grow a business online.

The digital landscape is vast and complex, we focus on understanding all the parts as an ecosystem that can work for or against you. It requires constant learning in order to understand the crucial shifts from the hype.

We are also practical. Solutions we suggest for a one man start up will be vastly different to what we would suggest for a global company.

Because we don’t offer any services beyond consulting we can independently make suggestions about what you should focus and invest in and help find you the right partners to work with.

Founder - Andrea Price

With 18 years experience neck deep in digital Andrea has almost done it all working on global brands from within agencies and as a client.

Before starting a step back, Andrea was the Global Director of Digital Marketing for Tommy Hilfiger, a company known for its digital innovation.

Her role was to oversee the transformation of the digital ecosystem globally by setting the strategic direction for the brand online and overhauling process and platforms to allow digital to grow into a central part of the business.

With a company mandate to become an innovator in the field, she also led some of the companies most ambitious projects collaborating with industry giants Facebook, Google, AKQA and Twitter.

Her broad range of experience has given her the ability to see across the digital landscape, front end and back end, platform to platform and understand how it all works together and how one decisions affect another, hence why she called her company 'a step back'.

Price is also a European Beachhead Advisor for NTZE where her role is to advise New Zealand companies on how to leverage digital to grow their export business.

She is a Southland farm girl who ended up in Amsterdam for 13 years before coming back to New Zealand with a little junior in tow in December 2020.

She writes, paints, spends too much money and time browsing and buying fashion and is occasionally out of the office on a ten day silent meditation retreat.
